Now is the time to work smarter not harder.

Now is the time to stretch not contract.

Now is the time to dream not doze. 

Now is the time to collaborate not isolate.

Now is the time to make ourselves better not worse.

In 2009 I became a partner in Campbell and Peace in Nottingham which later became The Campbell Clinic.

2009 was the worst recession in living memory after the 2008 crash and I didn’t really notice.

I didn’t notice because I just went to work and got my sh*t done and waited to see what would happen with that because, it felt like I had no other way.

What I did do through that time though was take any spare money I had and invested in myself, doing things like Master Classes at the University of Bern and anything I could with the ITI to make myself a bit better at the work that I did.

I also gave up restorative dentistry then (looking back now that seems like a very bold move) because I wanted to focus on being an Implant Surgeon and be better at that.

That was one of those times where it was important to stretch, to look for the opportunities rather than contract and stay safe and now is the same.

We’ve just launched our Year Two Implant Course for 2021 and we’re already pleasantly surprised at the interest that we have and people that might want to come.

This is the course that moves you on from straightforward Implant Dentistry to beyond that and to higher levels of work, bigger numbers and more interesting things.

It’s a stretch for anybody who does it, both in terms of the skills and the imagination required.

Now is the time for all of that though because who knows what will be left of NHS dentistry after March 2021 and if everybody becomes a private dentist after that, how will we differentiate ourselves from anybody else in the face of the public?
