No room for self-appointment

You can’t decide to be the prime minister now.

You had to stand in the election and we’ve already had that.

Similarly, there’s no point in complaining who the prime minister is or any other elected leader at this time, the fact is that the best way to deal with our current crisis and situation is to help as much as possible.

There are plenty of opportunities right now and all around to get involved and help and make things better.

There are plenty of opportunities to do the selfish thing and to self-protect, to look after only you and your immediate years and to hell with everyone else.

You can shout about being unrepresented or shout about how you could do it better, but the best thing you can possibly do is just to do it a little bit better.

Look where you can help and where you can contribute.

It might be volunteering; it may be taking the time to speak to someone on the phone who needs your help.

It might be a Zoom call with your team or helping someone you know with financial hardship.

Not everyone gets to win a gold medal during this. Not everyone gets to be a hero that everyone else can see.

Everyone does get to be a hero though, even if the rest of the world don’t recognise it.
