Changing the thing changes the experience of the thing.

This is a powerful tool, you can turn things from terrible to wonderful just by changing their name and changing the story in your mind.

In the immediate preparation for something important, like an exam, a race or an interview you tell yourself that you’re nervous and frightened, or you can tell yourself that you’re excited.

Changing the name from frightened to excited changes the thing entirely. It changes the psychology totally.

In our practice, we wanted to do more and more for good causes, but the name for that in the business world is Corporate Social Responsibility and that wasn’t good enough for us. So, we changed it to our Social Legacy Project.

We do this with job titles in the practice, with the way we speak to patients or the way we speak to each other.

We’re story based animals who live our lives based on what we believe and what we hear from the stories. Changing the names of the stories or the name of the things in the stories is an essential tool for joy, happiness and to lead a better life.
