The Lord Ted is a pub on the west side of Newark on the main roundabout entering into the town.
I’ve only ever been in it once and it was 21 years ago.
On that day it was 2 days before my wedding and my brother was down (to be my best man) and we went to a place called Jack Spratt to collect some pine furniture for my new house that I had just moved into.
Fast forward 21 years and I passed it the other day and it sparked those memories again.
The journey through my life from the visit to Lord Ted in 1999 to now; has been nothing short of absolutely extraordinary.
The people that I have met and shared my life with, the things that I have been privileged to do and the places I have been privileged to see.
I’ve lived through two recessions, tragedy, triumph, disaster and unexplainable joy all wrapped up into a bag of 21 years.
I truly hope there is another 21 years left in me (and a bit more than that) and I have no idea what the future holds but the truth is that I have no idea what the future held then.
Professionally I had placed my first dental implant less than 12 months before, I had no aspirations to own a business and actually no prospect of owning one.
I had no children and I wasn’t even married.
It’s fine to look back in times of difficultly to see that what generally happens is that there is generally a tomorrow and a day after that and when you have the ability to hold onto that and to realise it then todays problems and difficulties seem to fade to be a little bit less traumatic.
