It was February when the conflict in Ukraine started and at the early stages there was some rushing around by people in various different places trying to help raise money, donate stuff or impact in any way they could in what is a terrible (and becoming more terrible) situation.
And then, as it always happens in these circumstances, it becomes a bit more normal and then we get overrun with news of inflation and political disaster and winters of discontent and NHS collapse and many other things.
From the early stages of the conflict in Ukraine the ITI had a global meeting in Rome in March and agreed to try to support dental speakers from within the country to continue to do their work and to educate (and to earn some much-needed income) by working with ITI Study Clubs.
And so, it’s taken us this long to get that sorted but Nish Yadev at the Clinic as a co-director of our ITI study club has managed to pull together an event with Vitaly Pchelnik who’s a dental prosthodontist and surgeon from Ukraine.
Vitaly will speak live on November 10th, 2022 at 7.30pm from Ukraine and first will tell us some of the insights that he has being a dental surgeon working currently in a country stricken with conflict and secondly (and I guess amazingly) will talk about ProArch digital implant surgery and a new way of planning rehabilitation for fully edentulous patients.
The dentistry is one thing and we have provided some ProArch digital work in the practice so it will be fascinating to see what he has to say but I think, much more than that, amidst the distress and anxiety and carnage that he must be witnessing is quite an extraordinary thing.
This event is free to ITI members but also free to quests who have attended less than 2 ITI meetings and so, it’s free to almost everyone.
We will be collecting on the night digitally to help people in Ukraine too so expect that if you turn up to the free meeting, we will be hassling you to contribute too.
The details are shown on the flyer attached and there is a QR code to book on ITI net.
It may help you gain a greater insight into what’s happening over there.
It may help you introduce yourself to the ITI as an organisation that can help you.
It may make you feel more connected to people around the world.
We hope to see you there and for those of you in Nottingham we’ll be hosting it live in the Academy too with some food so you might want to come and share the experience with other people.
