Last week's crisis

All of us are dealing with the global crisis that we find ourselves in and we’re also trying to manage the local crisis and then the micro crisis within our family units as well.

Seven week's ago, most of us were concerned about how we were going to pay our staff’s wages or our bills for the month and then that problem was taken away.

There are not so many people panicking about what the word 'furlough' means at the moment.

At that same time, we were worried about dying of a mystery virus but now, for many of us, that problem has been removed.

We then went into lockdown wondering what would happen to our children’s education but more importantly how we would get toilet roll or other essential supplies which were stock pilled and didn’t seem to be able to arrive.

Most of the supply problems have been sorted, now we are onto another problem.

The current crisis for Dentistry at the moment is PPE.

There is much scrambling around now, trying to get hold of the things we think we will need (although we do not know) when we open again.

Then next is the anxiety of when will we be ‘aloud to open?'.

Let’s hope in seven weeks’ time the problems we are encountering and the things we are up against are different again because that means we’ll be moving forwards.

I fully suspect that will be the case and it may well be that we’re either looking for patients in seven weeks’ time or we have too many to deal with.

Perhaps I’ll look back or reference back to this blog seven weeks from now and say “I told you so”.

Here’s hoping.
