Similar but different.

Values, behaviours, attitudes, actions, call them whatever you want.

The best way I find to approach these subjects is by asking an open-ended question where you are actually interested in hearing the answer.

Kindness – "Is there anything I can do to help?"

This is a big question which sometimes comes with a big answer which then makes it your responsibility to do what you said or help as you saidyou would.

"Are you ok?" (often followed up by "No, but are you really ok?")

This will open the floodgates, so be ready.

This is the way we find out if there is anything we can do to make it better and if there is anything wrong.

Don't ask the questions though, if you're not prepared to accept the responsibility of the answers.
