Just Talking

In January, we launched Peer Review at The Campbell Clinic as a way of getting dentists together to talk about stuff and dentistry too.

We had a chat with the people that came for the first two meetings (Chris Barrow was a good draw and there were several people who wanted to watch me cry about my GDC case) but invariably the group will shrink and narrow down to a cohort of people who are interested to talk about issues that are going on and chat about cases openly and honestly.

Every second meeting now is our ‘Case Study evening’, which is ran by Neil Poyser.

Neil is a Consultant Restorative dentist with about 1000 years-experience across all the restorative specialties. He also places implants pretty well and restores them even better but his other areas of interest include composites, wear and occlusion (all that stuff I know nothing about).

Neil though, is a meticulous planner and is the perfect person to take on the role of talking about cases with the Peer Review guys.

The first of these meetings is tonight where Neil talks about his own cases as well as those attending. We have developed methods of sharing these cases, why not email me and I’ll tell you about it. (colin@campbell-clinic.co.uk)

So, join the closed Facebook page here and start to share your cases, let’s meet together every 8 weeks and make things a little bit better for the patients that we treat.

You’re liable to see some real howlers and difficult cases that we see at the practice, they’re fascinating to talk about, like the case we chatted about on the very first Peer Review with Chris Barrow back in February.

On alternate meetings, we will still have some structured stuff, and next month in May Mark Melbourne and I are going to go through intra oral scanning with you guys that are keen, showing different scanners, things we’ve learned and outcomes. You can see details and book onto that here if you’re interested.

Hopefully we will all learn from each other. If you bring your scanning experience then you can teach us some things too. If you’ve never pick up an intra oral scanner then why not come along, it’ll give you the chance to do that.

The rest of the details about the Peer Review’s are on our website and you can read them here. As always, probably the best way to keep in touch is our Facebook page or again email me and I will add your email to the information list.

In our minds, we would have 20 people coming along to these who are interested to participate. It won’t be the same 20 every time.

I look forward to seeing you, hopefully we can all begin to help each other to be a little bit better for patients.
