Just a bit between the lines

Reading the news both outside of dentistry and inside of dentistry, the crisis that’s coming is extraordinary and huge and dark and terrible and there’s not really any point in going on.

We’ve moved on from that virus thing that was affecting us for a while that we can hardly remember, onto war and economic destruction and further prospect of disease and perhaps nuclear annihilation and certainly more expensive dental nurses and horrendously expensive dental associates and increased energy bills.

There’s no way that we’ll be able to survive this and there’s certainly no way that in a year’s time we’ll be sat here because we’ll all be out of business and then hospital or dead or divorced or generally completely unhappy and fed up.

The alternative for this is probably to position yourself in-between the lines (and god knows I’ve been outside the lines at times in my life and it’s better to be in them.

Not too high with the highs and not too low with the lows.

Enough money in the bank to try and survive more than the other guy next door and a little celebration when you win but not one that lasts for weeks.

That way you can ride the bumps just a little bit better and you’re not completely broken when it’s time to step up (for only a short while) before you step back between the lines).
