In October, I'll be doing a webinar for the ITI, which has a global reach. (It sounds impressive, but it will only be for 1000 people, not 100,000 people.)
The purpose of that Webinar is to introduce people to some hacks for dental marketing, things that we have learned in our business, things that we have learned from other people, and things that we have taught in many different places.
This forms some of the basis of the marketing aspects of our business courses, including The Digital Dental Entrepreneurial Program and our five-day Business Bootcamp.
What is staggering about this is that you can lead horses to water, but you cannot make them drink.
And the most effective form of marketing for any business is word of mouth.
When people hear about word-of-mouth marketing, they think it happens automatically, but it doesn't. You can structure and formalise your word-of-mouth marketing to maximise its impact and achieve the greatest possible results.
The way to do this is to invite people to invite their friends and family to your business.
People, it seems, are just desperate to rush off and pay loads of money on pay-per-click adverts or optimising their website or social media presence but if you have not maximised the friends and family thing from your business, you are wasting money and missing opportunities on an hour by hour and day by day basis.
It's quite staggering.
The people who come as recommended are already sold on your business because they have a trust in your business that you cannot possibly replicate yourself; they also tend to worry much less about price, and as figures that we have for well over a decade show they convert for treatment way, way higher than any other source of patient coming in.
Let me repeat that.
In our practice, over 75% of people who come by word of mouth go straight into treatment.
Our best-performing route other than that is less than 50% from first contact.
Can you see how the math adds up? There are way more patients saying yes who are not concerned regarding cost and who already trust you.
It costs less to attract them to your business, you don't have to advertise, and you win more.
We'll discuss this in the Webinar for the ITI and in our other courses, but we are planning to begin a weekly dental business blog on Sunday evening as part of our overall business offering. This blog will run separately from my standard blog (the one you're reading here).
It will just be once a week, a larger, more detailed article on aspects of dental business that I'm fascinated with. We've picked up things from different business coaches, different business areas of education, and running our own dental business and teaching it for the past 15 years.
There will be a separate sign-up for this, and I suspect it will only be open to a select few people. The link to subscribe will be released this week!
The blogs will start weekly in September.
I look forward to seeing you there.
I hope you'll comment and get involved in the discussions because we all learn from this. But the first place to start for your marketing is stripping it back to the simple, word of mouth.
If you don't know how to do that, Look at the Digital Dental Entrepreneurial Program.
It will cost you between £1,500 and £1,900, and you will make that money back in the first month through word-of-mouth marketing and then every single month for the rest of your life.
