For me or for them?

This is a super important question to ask when you're making something that you want other people to like.

If you're designing a website or a product, something that you want people to buy, if you have a cause or you want people to invest, or any number of reasons why you may construct something for someone else, ask them, ask yourself at the start of the process, 'Am I doing it for me, or am I doing it for them?'

It's a totally different philosophy once you get down to the basics.

For me, it is short-term to get something back now, to feed me, to make me richer or better or wiser or stronger. For them, it is a giving action: 'I am going to create something remarkable so that other people like it.'

It always comes back to the situation where you can choose to be good, or you can choose to be rich, but if you choose to be rich, there's a good chance you might never become good.

If you choose to become good, there's a much greater chance that you'll also be rich (whatever rich means to you).
