If you're a hill walker or road cyclist, you'll know the phenomenon where you reach the crest of the hill or the mountain and you think your effort is done only to come over the top and to see a higher peak right in front of you.
Depending on your level of fitness and motivation, it can be depressing and distressing.
It's just a metaphor for life though, isn't it?
The false summits are always there, in fact (if you choose it to be so) you never, ever, ever reach the top and every summit you find is a false summit.
That's not a bad thing.
