In the last two days, I've met two of the most inspirational people I've met for a long time.
On Thursday, I had a zoom call with an Italian periodontist named Daniele Cardaropoli. who, it turns out, is the team dentist/doctor for Juventus in Turin.
The zoom call was about booking him to do a soft tissue implant master class at The Campbell Academy in early 2024 but the conversation became about sons playing football and life and schedules and diaries and all that jazz.
He decided he wanted to come to Nottingham before 2024 just to see Notts County because of their connection to Juventus and we'd worry about the master class a little bit further on.
And, the other day (and I promise this was part of my work) I met Richard Whitehead.
You can see Richard Whitehead’s 200 metres victory in the 2012 London Paralympics here.
Mike, myself and my family were in the stadium.
They say you shouldn't meet your heroes, but sometimes you really should, and Louis and I chatted to Richard today in the Clinic about how The Campbell Clinic can work with Richard’s Foundation in a partnership for the next 30 years to change people's views on things that need changing.
Imagine that was your work.
The way I get paid from the Clinic means I get paid the same amount every month as long as we've got the money.
And the rest of it goes to the Clinic for reinvestment in what's going on.
I get enough and therefore I can do this stuff and get on.
I think that is (at least my) version of success.
I wonder if in the past I got caught up with chasing a bigger and bigger number, and I missed out on the opportunities to speak to people that just made me better and better as a person and happier and happier as an individual.
Just a thought.
