Decisions

Decision making might just be one of the key skills left that is actually valuable.

In a world where artificial intelligence can now report on X-Rays of cancer patients more accurately than Physicians and accounting software can provide more insight in to companies accounts than Accountants can and legal software can write legal contracts quicker, faster and more accurately then a Lawyer can dictate them, where is the value left for us? (apart from in developing that software)

Over the past year I have had to make more decisions, and decisions of much higher relevance and consequence than I have ever done in my entire life.

There are days where it has felt like I have made a million different decisions, some of which were the highest valued financial decisions I have ever made, some of which could have far reaching effects on my family.

The funny thing is though, that decision making is a practiced skill, applied through purposeful practice of doing, reflecting and repeating, decision making becomes easier and (I hope) better.

There is no value now in the avoidance of decision making, both decision making and the ability to provide insight are about the two most important things we are able to do now.

Artificial intelligence can do everything else.
