In one of our SLT (Senior Leadership Team) meetings last week we realized that Charlotte, Marie and I will have be in the practice for 10 years next year.

I have written before in these pages that life progress generally can only be measured in decades in my opinion. So I guess next year we have earned the privilege to reassess.

Almost 10 years ago I ripped everything up, threw it to the wind and started again. I am the type of personality who needs the ability to do that, at least virtually on a regular basis.

I have written a lot over the past little while about what is happening in dentistry in regulation, the future of dentistry, the reduction of new dentists wages and all those terrible things, but the landscape changes, and whatever way you look at it people will still want dentistry one way or another.

We should celebrate 10 years, that is some achievement. I’ve only ever worked in two practice environments, one for nearly 11 years and this one now for 10 so I have seen a lot of the stuff that hasn’t worked come back to me.

We will take the opportunity to have some sort of proper celebration of this achievement and then we will rip it up and start again for another decade.
