Controlling behaviour

I don't think it's ever possible to control someone else's behaviour.

It's possible to try and influence someone else's behaviour.

And so if you try to influence it and yet are unable to control it, but if you want someone to behave in a particular way and you try to influence them to behave in that way, and they don't, it's totally fine.

It's not a failing on your part; it's just a decision they've made to behave differently.

I think we get caught up a lot of the time believing that how we try to influence people should automatically be successful in making someone behave in a specific way, and I don't think that's ever possible.
