Why is it that we are so attracted to inspirational quotes, lyrics, writing, poetry and stories.

Perhaps it is simply that it shows us a vision of a better version of ourselves that other people have been more successful at achieving than we have… to date.

More than that though I think that it drags us out of the routine and into the moment and reminds us that there is a bigger purpose and a more important path than the one that we are currently working on (usually).

Being back in the practice these last 4 or 5 weeks has been extraordinary but it’s time that we put things on the walls and my friend and now colleague at the practice Carl Dunstan is in charge of our ‘inspiration wall’ in The Academy.

This will be covered with photographs and quotes and general bits and bobs that have inspired us. Anyone can submit to the wall as long as they have a story to tell and it will grow and come alive and be something we can stop and look at both when things are going well but more importantly when we’re in the middle of the tough times knowing that we’ll look back on the tough times one day and wish that we were still there.

Inspiration is bizarre, it’s a sharp spike of wonder which disappears quickly like a burst balloon for all but the very best and motivated of people.

Important that we seek out methods to try to continually inspire ourselves to better because, now more than any time I can remember is the time to try to inspire ourselves to greatness and to inspire the people around us to greatness too.
