Broken Promises

I went to my favourite coffee shop yesterday, one of my favourite places in the world, owned by a couple I know who taught me what good coffee is and how to measure it.

I ordered a cappuccino, and it wasn't the same as it usually is, but I thought it just must be an abnormality, an outlier, a new member of staff, or something like that.

I ordered a second one, and it was the same.

I think the guys who own this coffee shop are about to sell it; I wonder if it's one of those situations where the love has gone.

It's interesting when we look at all of the things that we do in our life, when the joy and the fun and the inspiration goes, it just becomes mid (as my son would say), it just becomes doing the job quality to make the thing that's special and better than everyone else disappear because the effort is too great.

Avoiding that slide is one of the most important bits of work. I guess if you want to stay where you are in a place where you love doing the thing, that is great.
