Boom and bust

I don’t think it’s possible for me to do it any other way.

I crave a linear progression of slight advancement in all aspects of my life towards some end point where I’ve achieved ‘what it was I was supposed to find on my white stone’.

But instead, my graph is jagged with huge peaks and troughs, generally, I think in an upwards direction left to right but never smooth and never steady and gloriously or terribly unpredictable.

I watch other people on a steadier path, less obsessed with aspiration or achievement or change and I envy their stability and balance.

A leopard can’t change its spots but maybe the spots will fade a little bit with time and age.
