I got the most extraordinary gift from two friends that I’ve known for some time whom I first met on a course that we provided about the business of dentistry.
They’re a husband-and-wife couple and when they first came to see us, they had a small, little dental concern with aspirations to make things bigger and better and learnt so much on the year-course with our colleagues but provided so much more.
He was here last week and bought me a present for my 50th birthday.
It was a Chinese elm bonsai tree (indoors).
By the looks of it it’s been growing for quite a long time (well over 10 years) and it will take a little bit of looking after and a little bit of finding out about and need a little bit of love.
It’s a 30-year project to nurture and to grow and to look after and to care for, for a reward that you’ll only really realise much closer to the other side.
Sounds about right, I think.
