Target setting for associates

Associates need to know their targets, otherwise how can they possibly work towards meeting them.

This is pretty evident in a UDA driven NHS dental economy but perhaps not so clear in a private practice. We would start by having a discussion with the associates about how many days they are going to work the following year. We would have a figure for their average daily yield for the previous year and discuss ways we can help them improve their average daily yield. This may include introducing new products, going on courses or just making a more efficient surgery by zoning their appointments. Once we have this we can the set an average daily yield projected for the following year, multiply it by the number of days which shows the associate the income they should make. We can monitor this on a month by month basis and if they’re struggling then we can give them assistance to get back on track.
