Ready, fire, aim!

Some years ago I went to see the great Tom Peters lecture in London (the author of In Search of Excellence and one of the most famous business gurus in the world)

The one thing that sticks in my mind about that lecture was the phrase ready…fire…aim!

Peters explained the dangers of perfectionism and how perfectionism stifles creativity and kills. Probably a good job because I am not a perfectionist but there are times when I spend so long trying to get something right before I ‘ship it’ that it is too late and I have missed the opportunity.

Life is unpredictable at the best of times. The best option is to get something out there and see what happens, see how it develops and change it as you need to in reaction to what happens to it once it is released into the wild.
