The pace of change

I have discussed this topic before and talked about riding the wave of change and I have been reading a book of late on creativity of which the first part discussing the pace of change in the world and quantifying it and it I terrifying and staggering.

Each year now it is estimated we manufacture 10 to the 17th (that would be 10 with 17 zero’s after it) silicone chips in the world to power the computers that we have.

We are building machines now, which are measured in nanometers (a nanometer is the length a mans beard grows in 1 second)

The average iPhone has more computer power within it than existed in the whole world in 1940!

Riding the wave of change is ideal but there is absolutely no way that we can keep up with the pace so the only way to do this is to pick areas or an area that you want to be great at and focus in on that.
