A Lesson from JFK…

I like to read quotes and inspirational quotes from other people. I am not absolutely sure why quotes are inspiring but I think its because they are generally an amazing summary of a fundamental philosophical point that just reminds us of what’s important.

I seem to find these everywhere. In books, on the web and from other presenters and I have now started writing things down and keeping a note of the ones I really like. You may have seen this from some of the blogs posts, if you have seen any, and some of them you my even have liked yourself.

Recently I was reading a blog on the Absolute Triathlon Club Facebook page from someone who is training for an Iron Man Triathlon for the first time. In it they have used an amazing quote from JFK, which I think I have heard before but forgotten a long time ago, it goes as follows:

“Do not pray for easier lives, pray to be stronger men”

Having just returned from 2 weeks of holiday and a complete 10 days of communication blackout when I didn’t answer my phone, answer emails or look at any social media, it would be wonderful to have an easier, less complicated life.

I don’t think this is likely and now, as I turn my attention back to all the stuff that is waiting for me after holidays, the prospect of being quieter or it being easier is not realistic.

I think the only answer is to try to be stronger.
