I recently went to visit the clinical teaching centre at the University Hospital Coventry in preparation for our Sinus Grafting Course which is to take place in September.
The day I was there, there was an event going on with 6th form students who were interested in Medicine being shown around the anatomy. In a novel approach the centre had invited medical students to demonstrate to the 6th formers the ins and outs of anatomy, 8 tables, 8 minutes per table on a different subject: Head and Neck, Upper Limb, Lower Limb etc.
The enthusiasm in that room was absolutely astonishing. The possibilities for the people were endless. 6th form students wanting to become doctors, medical students almost doctors thinking of the possibilities of what's to come in their career.
It is easy for us all to become jaded, to forget what it is like to have the childish enthusiasm of something new but I was re-invigorated by that experience. I never want to get to the stage where I am not fascinated by possibility or can't see an opportunity when it is right infront of me.
We plan to make the Open Sinus Grafting Course at the University Hospital Coventry and The Campbell Clinic one of the best courses ever. If it is a subject that interests you, come and experience some of the enthusiasm that I saw that day in the clinical teaching centre.
