The Lego Movie

Lego

Seven of us went to see this in the last school holidays. Alison and I, the three kids and my Mum and Dad.

There was a definite male / female split and I have the feeling that this will come across as a film like Toy Story 3 (the film that made men cry).

Without spoiling The Lego Movie it just works. There is a split between animation and real film which I felt was fantastically clever and the whole concept of the film just strikes a chord, particularly with someone who's building a lot of lego with his son at the moment.

It's totally a film about the importance of creativity, about letting people play or do what they want and about throwing away the instructions. There are plenty of 'laugh out loud' moments and the characters are brilliant (particularly Batman)

It's good on the big screen but you can watch it at home and it is the type of film you will buy on DVD and watch on a Friday film night with your kids.

I will definitely watch it again and will buy it on Apple TV when it comes out.

Super clever for adults and children.
