Five years ago, in 2009, we took delivery of our first CBCT Scanner. A Carestream 9000 3D.
This has been a fantastic machine at our practice, a fantastic tool for taking brilliant OPGs and Cone Beam CT Scans and has changed my practicing life.
Recently, we changed to our second generation scanner which is the Sirona XG 3D, but not because we had a problem with the Carestream Scanner, more because we wanted a scanner which would talk properly to a milling machine to allow us to do some amazing stuff with CAD CAM and CT Scans. I took the opportunity to change this but now we have a spare Cone Beam CT Scanner that we are ready to sell.
This machine has not been used an enormous amount compared to a machine in an NHS practice. It has never caused us any difficulty or problems and it has been uninstalled by qualified engineers to make sure it is ready to go into someone else's practice immediately. It is a fantastic bit of kit that was £65,000 when we bought it and I am looking to sell it for £15,000.
I don't really want to negotiate on the price and if it went much lower than that I would probably give it to one of the dental charities, I just want someone to pick it up quickly from us and put it into their practice.
If you are looking for a new OPG machine and are thinking of spending over £20,000 I would think about the chance to have Cone Beam CT in your practice and how cool that would be.
The machine ties up to Carestream software and will need to be installed in your practice but it is a fantastic bit of kit going very cheaply for anyone who has the opportunity to acquire it.
