Chronological vs physiological

This is a discussion we have with patients in surgery often.

Chronological age (ie. the age you are in years) is completely irrelevant. I see many patients in their 70’s and 80’s who are completely active, enjoying life to the full and contributing. I also see many people in their 40’s who are none of the above. There is no question to me that life is a crap chute and you can be dealt a howler at any point but it is also possible to skew the odds in your favour towards maintaining your physiological age.
