13 Films for 2013... Number 2

Hansel and Gretel Witch Hunters

The danger of turning up at the cinema with your cinema buddy having not booked tickets or even looked at the cinema listings is that you might end up seeing a film like this.

The choice was die hard, something else that I can’t remember which seemed too high brow after a day at work, or Hansel and Gretel Witch Hunters.

There has been a little bit of a theme at the cinema over the last 18 months of reinventing fairy tales for an adult audience (click here) but I’m afraid this was a little like Snow White and the Huntsmen ‘light’ but with a bit of swearing and violence added in to try and make it better for an adult audience.

On reflection the day after, not the best film I have ever seen and not one that is likely to rank amongst the unforgettable’s but still something to while away an hour and a half away from the usual day to day pressures which is what the cinema is all about.

Don’t rush to buy it on DVD but maybe watch it when it’s on the telly.
