Malcolm Gladwell

David and Goliath

A long time in the waiting and a long time in the coming, the next book by Gladwell is here to add to his previous stunning endeavours of Tipping Point, Blink and Outliars.

As with all the rest of his books I did this as an audio book because it is read by the author exactly how it was supposed to be heard.

It doesn't disappoint.

This is absolutely the book it should have been. Based around the concept of how underdogs can win against the big guys and the best way to go about that, it explores so much more than this from girls basketball teams in the United States to the troubles in Northern Ireland and the Civil Rights movements in the South of America.

I was particularly taken by his dissection of the troubles in Northern Ireland and how it may have been avoided due to my upbringing in the Protestant / Catholic mix of the West of Scotland.

Gladwell sprinkles his magic dust on any subject you like, he opens up your eyes and makes you see things which were counter-intuitive and you thought were cemented in your beliefs and he twists and turns them until you believe the opposite. It's hugely refreshing and inspirational to read anything that Gladwell has done.

Do not miss the chance to read or hear this book.
