Big up to Bridge2aid

First of all, Bridge2aid’s website is here.

During and just after the pandemic Shaenna Loughnane, the genius that is the CEO of Bridge2aid and her team realised that they were in a position where they had to completely pivot their organisation.

Social pressures and a changing world made the model that Bridge2aid were working on not really tenable anymore.

It’s not really acceptable, in so many ways, to fly well to do white people out to Africa to solve their problems (sometimes in business class flights) whilst they have a 2 week stay, making themselves feel better, and admittedly making a difference, only to come back and leave Africa to fend for itself.

It was time for Bridge2aid to change direction and Shaenna has led them through a phase of extraordinary reimagination to what may become an even greater and more influential organisation of impact in Africa.

One of the recent pilot studies which was carried out with Bridge2aid along with other partners, including the Scottish government is in this blog here edited by Andrew Paterson and produced by Jeremy Bagg. This is what making a difference looks like.

And so, less and less will Bridge2aid send people on planes and more and more will they facilitate learning and education and oral health improvement across vast populations in Africa, making small steps to a better world.

This doesn’t happen by accident and it certainly doesn’t happen without extraordinary commitment and vision and dedication from the team at Bridge2aid.

Bridge2aid is a dental charity, it’s one of our dental charities and it needs help and support from dentists and dentistry.

It’s absolutely fine and essential to support and commit to helping people in your neighbourhood who have less than you and could do with a leg up.

But as events show us, everywhere is our neighbourhood and what better way could dentistry help than supporting Bridge2aid?

You can donate here, we will.
