Seth is watching me every single day and when I am in trouble he writes something to me and it touches me and re-inspires me.
He did it again this week with this blog.
I am a starter, I love the new and I cannot finish anything (apparently). I’m full of ideas but need people around me to help me get things done properly.
There is one area though that I always finish.
For the past 7 or 8 years I’ve read every single Seth Godin blog that has been published, I never ever miss one.
Sometimes they stack up and then I know I am in trouble when I have 5 or 6 to read. Those are the times when things are really difficult.
Those are times like this week.
Last week I spoke on leadership for an hour at the Dentinal Tubules Study Club Directors Day at Heythrop Park in Oxford.
That is an extraordinary group of people, doing extraordinary things.
I did the lecture on the Saturday at the end of my holiday and obviously spent my holiday trying to put the lecture together.
For me a lecture on leadership is a lecture on ethics and moral philosophy and that is the lecture that I provided, but I have too much to say!
I tried to fit in 20 years of ethical experience, consideration and development into 1 hour and it wasn’t possible.
The lecture was rubbish, and to the guys at Dentinal Tubules I am sorry about that.
Then it turns out that Seth wrote to me and told me how I should have done the lecture and from now on I will do the lecture like he says.
Sometimes it feels like the topic is so important that I have to squeeze 110 slides into 60 minutes (that is not possible for me). It’s better that I put 1 slide up and talk from the heart about what I believe.
