Are they worth it?

Who’s your most important member of staff?

I mean, apart from you, if you still believe that it is you.

Who’s the most valuable member of your team, the one who takes stress away from you and gives you time back with your family and who you can give a task to and never think about it again because you know that it’s been done?

Who’s the person in your group who has the skills that you don’t have and who’s better than you at those things?

What are they worth?

In the corner shop that is many independent dental practices in the UK there isn’t one of those. No, stop, that’s not true…they’re just hidden and they haven’t had the chance to put their head up and show what they’re worth.

There is no such thing as extraordinary people (IMHO) there are just ordinary people doing extraordinary things.

Ordinary people can’t do extraordinary things unless you give them the facility to do it, they can’t do it if you keep them down, if you keep them within the lines, if you don’t give them a chance.

Take the person who is the most valuable in your business and invest in them, train them and show them and watch them go and watch how much more valuable they become.

In February next year we start the Business Course again and there are six places left. Including VAT, you need to invest £6,000 in your most valuable member of staff and £6,000 in yourself. You come together as a pair.

The job of the course is to show you that that person you brought can do a lot of the stuff you thought only you could do and then they can do that with other people in your business. All of a sudden you have a business!

Watch and be amazed at how capable the most valuable person in your business actually is and then try to figure out what you’ll do with the time you get back once you have given the responsibility away.

If you want to know what happened to some other practices that did this then there are some videos: here, here and here. If you want to talk about how you might do it then get in touch.
