This coming September, it is our pleasure to present an all day master class and ITI study club in the evening by Stephen Barter from Eastbourne.
Stephen Barter is a former chairman of the UK and Ireland ITI section, who now serves on one of the global committees for the ITI in Switzerland. He has, for many years, run a hugely successful implant referral practice in Eastbourne and has been a pioneer in many areas of implant dentistry.
Combine this with the fact that the ITI are now in the position of having published 9 ITI treatment guides based on consensus statements and scientific documentation and Stephen Barter is one of the co-authors for Volume 9 - Implant Therapy in the Geriatric Patients.
This is not a particularly sexy title, not like tooth whitening, botox or digital smile design combined with veneers but if you thought you are not in the business of treating older patients then you are not in the business of dentistry. The changes in demographics in our society and the massive growth of the over 60’s living longer with better quality of lives are huge. They are acquiring extensive dental rehabilitation treatment and this is one of the largest growing areas on implant dentistry. It comes with specific challenges and requirements of knowledge.
On the 20th September in Nottingham Stephen will present a 6 hour master class based around everything that he learned writing and publishing that book together with a more detailed review in the evening. It is unlikely you will walk away from that day with anything other than a much greater knowledge in the requirements of treating patients of this age group, particularly in terms of rehabilitation of function. If that is something you are interested in or somewhere you see your career going then I advise you book a place.

Final note, it’s not just for implant guys this, the knowledge of what to do for patients in these situations is critical for everybody in dentistry (perhaps apart from Paediatric dentistry)
