And so tomorrow I am back to work after the second of the long periods off during winter that I started in 2016 and called a sabbatical (I’m not sure what I call it anymore). This years has been a different animal as I haven’t been entirely off electricals and I’ve not been without my phone (although I have restricted these things considerably in my time off).
This time off for me has been about cutting out addictions, losing weight, getting fit and re connecting with myself and my family. All things achieved for me.
It is though, much more than that because it allows me to reach a level of peace which is quite extraordinary and that I would never otherwise do.
I had intended to go through all 1,500 blogs to re post the ones that were my favourite but in fact I only got to 2015 but I had a lot of fun doing it. One day I’ll probably collect them together with some photographs from one of my best friends Stuart Reekie and we’ll put them together in a ‘not for profit’ book but at the moment I have other things to do.
I start back tomorrow with all day training in immediate life support and then it’s back into the hectic lifestyle of trying to run businesses, trying to maintain my clinical standards, trying to provide education that I am expected to provide at the highest level I can, trying to be a dad, trying to be a husband and trying to be an athlete.
I’m not sad about coming back, it’s a privilege. I’m excited and looking forward to the year ahead and everything that is to come.
I hope you’ve enjoyed this little side street that the blog has been on for the past six weeks, business as usual from tomorrow.
