Sometimes it is important to be nice and inclusive and generous and try to include everybody you can and bring as many people along for the ride as possible.
Now and again though, it is important to realise that there are people in the world who want to cut your legs off and to push back against that.
Mostly, I have tried to do the first thing but there are people that think I don’t have the second thing in me.
I do and I have, I will and in fact I am.
I have always said when I talk to the team and even to the family as well that I generally draw a virtual line in the sand with everybody that I deal with.
Historically people have pushed me towards that line, but when you go over it, even just once, you’re gone.
I think it is important that we all have that in us, the ability to cast adrift to people who are just constantly eating us or who look like they will eat us going forwards.
It is fine to be generous and it is fine to be inclusive, but it is still also true that they will step over your dead body to get to the next one.
