A body of work

When you're putting together a body of work that is a collection of things that add up to more than the sum of the parts, it's difficult because you're working hard on individual elements of something (sometimes you can show people and sometimes they can see it) but often they can't see the final result until after the final result is done.

It takes an extraordinary number of stamina and vision, and commitment to get to the other end and finally say, "Look what we made."

It might be that you get there, and when you show people what you've done, they're nonplussed, or they're not bothered.

These are the things that make it hard. Putting yourself out there, creating your art (whatever your art might be), and then sending it out into the world.

It's why you have to love the process and why the process is often the most crucial part overall.

In the end, someone will see it; someone will like it, and someone will comment on it. It could be years from now, but it doesn't matter.

Keep fighting the good fight and doing a good thing, and in the end, you'll get what you deserve, whatever that might be.
