29. Five Happy People - published 27.09.2013

Malcolm Gladwell writes about ' a circle of acquaintances'. It is only possible to really to know about 100 people and after than it becomes difficult to know any of them because there are too many.

So the average for the majority, 100 is about the number. I think that is probably right for me.

In conversation with someone recently, I came up with the concept of '5 happy people'.

Think about the group of people you know, perhaps the 100 or so and then find 5 of them that are really happy. I have tested this out a few times now and I think you will be surprised how few can identify 5 people that they know that they feel are truly happy.

This is an appalling observation that so few of us think that so few of the people we know are actually happy.

What are we actually doing then?

The trick is to make yourself one of the 5 I think and that is what I am going to try to do.
