I was at the ITI annual section meeting last week and I spent an hour outside talking to Larry Browne.

I have now known Larry for 20 years, first from a distance as a teacher, then closer as a mentor and now (I hope) as a friend and colleague.

As I was talking to him, and I could have spoken to him for the whole day and not got tired, I was reminded of an email that I had to answer the day before in regards to some printed brochures and envelopes at the practice.

5 years ago, we roughly added up the implant experience we have in the practice and realized it was 60 years, so we decided to put that on our marketing and branding material because we felt it was quite powerful.

We had to renew some of the print media recently and Marie had asked me to add up the numbers again, thinking it might not be as much as 60 because we’ve had a clinician leave.

It is now over 100.

100 years of combined implant experience is quite a powerful thing and something which is not available in every practice that provides this type of treatment.

But Larry Browne alone has 62 years of experience in dentistry. Let me repeat that for you…62 Years’ Experience!

What value - 62 years’ experience and still working.

What value a conversation with someone like Larry on the development of technology in dentistry and how it will affect things.

Larry is a Dental Technician Supreme who was worked in the dental technology world, the dental business world and the dental education world for most of that time.

The names of famous clinicians and people in dentistry that he has worked with just trip off the tongue with no hint of arrogance what so ever. In a world where most guys I know sell up and out in their 40’s and 50’s, Larry was just getting started.

Someone gave me a certificate with 6 and a half hours of continuing professional development on it at the end of that meeting.

The hour that I spent with Larry was worth 100.
