It has come to our attention that the teaching of CBCT in the United Kingdom falls woefully short of what is required for people to be competent at reporting CBCT scans.
Some of the common ways seem to be to send the reports off to Consultant Radiologists but unfortunately these rarely provide a functional report which allows people to assess whether implant placement is feasible or reasonable and really, we need to teach people to do this themselves.
With this in mind, we instituted a 3-day Masterclass course with Michael Bornstein, a world authority in CBCT.
The essence of this course is that it is competency based and we will be able to sign people off as being competent to report CBCTs.
Following the first section of the course, delegates will have 20 CBCT scans to report and on the second part of the course we will be able to certify people whose CBCT reports have effectively been marked and assessed to ensure that they understand the principles of reporting scans correctly.
In conjunction with this we will be able to show people how to use their CBCT scanners to their best ability within their practice and to maximise both patient advantage and practice profit.
