The Campbell Academy - Aesthetic Implant Live Skills Course

I recently published a blog about aesthetic implant placements in dentistry, you can read it here if you're interested.

At The Campbell Academy one of the things we are really keen to do is give people practical applications to allow them to improve and progress in their implant dentistry and we try really hard to do this through all the courses we provide.

The first line course for implant dentistry is the Live Skills Course which allows practitioners to come along and place a dental implant into a previously diagnosed and 'worked up' patient in the clinic under straightforward conditions but of course these are not the cases that people see regularly on a day to day basis. One of the most common cases is the upper anterior region. These cases are fraught with difficulty as described in my blog with all sorts of people telling you all sorts of ways to progress with them and many people suggesting that immediate implant placement for new implant dentists is the way forward for 'simplicity'. The difficulty with these cases is that they are high risk and very highly emotive, they are generally more complicated than posterior cases of straightforward nature and the stakes are much higher in the patient's eyes. To get these wrong is to fall into a trap and to get these wrong with the wrong patient can be truly catastrophic.

Our aesthetic implant course offers the opportunity for dentists (usually those who have placed around 50 implants or more) to be given a detailed, procedural approach to the assessment, selection and execution of aesthetic implant cases.

Immediate implant placement is faster and patients like it better but if their outcome is not good a year down the line then the problems are massive. The delayed immediate approach to implant placement followed by provisional crown construction used together with an aesthetic risk profile and assessment give practitioners a detailed and predictable method of providing aesthetic implant restorations and where the outcome is questionable, gives them the opportunity to discuss this at length with the patient prior to the start of treatment. This in fact is the essence of the course - to be able to pick out cases that are difficult and then to asses whether patient expectations are reasonable or not. Get this wrong in immediate cases and the outcome can be disastrous.

As with all the Live Skills Course at The Campbell Academy, these is small group teaching with multiple educators (this course has a 2:1 ratio of delegate to educator). On the course will be Colin Campbell, Clinical Director at The Campbell Clinic who had placed more than 4000 dental implants and is a Fellow of the ITI, Colin Burns who is a Fellow of the ITI, on the the Leadership Team of ITI UK & Ireland Section and has placed thousands of dental implants and Andy Legg who is a high level implant practitioner having placed thousands of dental implants and educated around the UK. Other education assistants will be available on the course to supplement the lectures, the practical exercises and the live surgical demonstrations culminating in the placement of an implants in the aesthetic zone by each individual delegate. This will encompass the placement of a dental implant in the ideal 3D position together with the nuances and subtleties of an anterior GBR procedure with tension free primary closure.

Delegates will be instructed on how to construct provisional crowns and then using the custom impression technique how to convert these crowns to final restorations in the ideal circumstances. We will also discuss at length how to assess and discuss aesthetic expectations with patients.

If you are in the early stages of your implant career or placing just a few a year and wish to enhance your skills and increased them with a practical based course then I believe this is the course for you. There are two places left on this years course which runs November 26th - 28th for the right delegates.

If you are interested then please email me or check it out on the website here:http://campbellacademy.co.uk/courses/live-skills-courses/#aesthetic-implant-live-skills

If you would like to book then you can book through the website or by telephoning: 0115 9823919

If you are too busy this year don't worry because the course will return next year, the year after that and the year after that etc.
