In the TED talk, Simon Sinek talks about ‘the why’ of a business or ‘the why’ of someone. What he means by that is that many people know what they do, quite a few people know how they do it, but not many people know why they actually do it. If they can get to the bottom of why they do things then it gives them a belief or a purpose in what they do.
At The Campbell Academy, our why is very simple… To provide world class education to dentists so that they can reach 50 implants a year in their practice (or beyond!)
Colin and I met back in 2011 when I had just sold my dental practice. We discovered we had a very similar philosophy in the way we wanted to provide implant dentistry to our patients.
I became an associate at The Campbell Clinic and then, after running some live skills courses, we took the leap and formally went into partnership with The Campbell Academy in September 2014.
The main issue we identified across the market was that the majority of dentists who went on implant courses either didn’t carry on their education and gave up, or ended up ‘dabbling’ and placing the odd implant. This was backed up by the statistics we received from our main sponsor- Straumann.
Our feeling was that implant dentistry is a skill that requires constant practice and updating and we came up with the notion that practitioners should be aiming for a minimum of 50 implants per year. This set the foundation of what we were trying to build.
So here we are, over 2 years down the line, we have a faculty of renowned world class speakers, a tribe of dentists, many of whom come back to attend courses and what we believe to be one the most comprehensive implant training programmes in the UK at present.

The constant evolution of the academy has resulted in not a rebrand, but a redesign to allow us to update our speakers, faculty and the courses that we offer. You will see this website evolve and develop as the years go by. It gives you access to all of the information you need together with testimonials and some videos of myself and Colin describing the various courses we offer.
We’d appreciate any feedback on this (good or bad!) as this is the only way we can develop and make it as good as we want it to be.
