Trust and decisiveness

Two of the most important things to consider in an interaction with another human being, where you’re trying to convince them of your legitimacy and your right to provide for them or proceed on a path to which they are uncertain, is the establishment of trust and decisiveness.

Firstly, does this person trust you and what can you do to make sure that they do?

This is a complicated dynamic and can take years of reputation building and validation from third party sources.

The second is to act decisively.

Hesitation and indecision can fracture and destroy the trust dynamic, but when you get both right, when someone trusts you and you are decisive then they will follow you and they will be led to the place you want to take them. This is an extremely powerful thing that should be used very carefully once it’s been achieved.
