The death of the Expo

I think dentistry exhibitions and expos are dying.

Is it the same in other industries?

It used to be we'd put together a load of suppliers who paid a sh*t ton of money to be able to sell right at us in a big room, and we would go there and choose things and buy them, but the world is changing massively.

Due to the massive amount of over-selling that goes on and the upselling and cross-selling and nasty undertones and interactions of these sales processes that often occur, people are getting fed up, and they're wiser.

People are buying into relationships more now than they ever have before.

I reckon everything has a product lifecycle, an implant course, a business course, a type of treatment that's fashionable or not fashionable, a pair of shoes, or a haircut.

I think the product lifecycle for face-to-face dental shows is running out, and I think someone needs to redesign what it is.

Yes, people want connection, they want to meet up, they want to learn, and they want to share their troubles and their difficulties. I just don't think they want to do it while someone shouts in their face about a 1% discount on something that they have to buy today.

Maybe it's just me.

There's probably another way, and I think the more innovative companies are developing long-term relationships with the type of people they want to work with.
