When you find yourself in a conflict situation there is one rule, in the later years of my life now that I will always adhere to, which only came to me relatively recently.
“You can only control your own behaviour”.
While we wish to control the behaviour of the person in front of us with whom we are in conflict with, that is impossible and uncontrollable.
What is entirely under your control is the way that you act in the situation you find yourself in.
More often than not, applying control of your own behaviour changes the dynamic of the situation to a position that was better than the one that you thought it might be.
