Maybe it’s me.
Maybe these reactions that I sometimes get from people which are grotesque and aggressive and unfounded and visceral and personal and insulting, and degrading are promoted by my behaviour.
Maybe the things I do are so offensive to some people that I provoke those responses.
It doesn’t happen very often, but sometimes you get a response from someone which is so horrible and personal that you have to take a step back and ask if you have been complicit in the production of that response.
Everybody knows what this means.
Sometimes it’s a friend who goes off the rails and shouts back horrible things to you as the friendship ends.
Sometimes it’s a patient in your business who calls you out and says the worst things about you and the things that you do.
It can be any number of situations.
Take a minute.
Sleep on it.
The initial reaction is always or almost always the wrong reaction.
