SLP -  a new thing

For ages The Campbell Clinic has been involved with various fundraising projects but I’m not really writing now to big us up or talk too much about that stuff - those of you old enough will remember Smashy and Nicey from Harry Enfield (“does a lot of work for charity, doesn’t like to talk about it”)

So for the purpose of this, just say that we’re involved with what the big companies call Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) but that didn’t sit right with us and didn’t seem like the right name.

So we racked our brains and decided that the stuff we do in the practice, which is now formalised, comes under the term of 'Social Legacy Project' (SLP).

That allows us to make contributions to things which all of us feel are important and have ways to decide how to do that.

Some of that involves overseas and some involves things really close to where we are. Some of it involves things that one person has chosen and some involves things that another has and we have structures and systems in place that allow us to do that.

1% of our group turnover from the clinic, the academy and the lab files into this and we’re very proud as a team of the things we have been able to achieve, although we’re not fantastic at shouting about it and we should probably do that a bit better.

Recently though it became much more difficult to organise all of this, in a world that was so busy; getting the IT right, getting the marketing right, getting the team training right etc. so we instructed the help fo Mark Topley

Formerly Mark was the CEO of Bridge2Aid and is now a CSR (SLP) Consultant who helps organisations organise their thoughts around charity, giving and the overall perspective of being grateful for what we have and helping out people less fortunate.

He started the process with us in January at a meeting with me and has now engaged throughout the team, building a format and a structure within the business which allows us to make the most of the generosities our team members show.

He spoke at our recent team day and he invited Shaenna Loughnane to speak too.

I have never seen the team so engaged in this project before and Mark has to take huge credit for that.

If you’re interested in giving a little bit of something back because of the fantastic level of privilege that we all have then why not get hold of Mark?

He’d be delighted to hear from you and have a chat.
