Seven feet apart

It’s been eighteen months since Callum and I had a day with the Red Arrows.

It comes back to me regularly and the lessons I learnt from that.

Continually I’m staggered by the fact that these guys fly at 350 mph only 7 feet apart but even more impressive is the fact that they refuse to fly until they have debriefed their previous flight.

That’s how they get better throughout an entire year before they then change members of the team and start again the following year.

It’s continual improvement and continual development of a team and the only way to do that is to debrief, review and reflect.

To have processes in place, a system in place and a culture in place that allows that is the most important thing that you can do to get things better.

In our online digital master class (sadly not face-to-face) with Sebastian Kuhl this year he explained that he videos every single surgery that he does so that he can debrief and review it to make sure they get better.

That must be next on the list for us moving things along.

After the Year Long course last week, we debriefed day 1.

Day 1 seemed like a huge success and I was so proud of it but we still found a dozen things to make it better for next year.

If you want to see how much better it looks next year and you’re interested in coming along click here, it will be better again.
