Re-turfing the Lawn

Remember that thing about the ‘grass always being greener’.

I’d rather look at it in a different way.

If you live in a house with a back garden which has a fence down either side, you can look to the right towards that neighbour on that side or you can look your left. The truth is it’s usually the neighbour on the right who has a nicer garden than the one of the left.

We seem absolutely conditioned to look only at the one that is better and not at the one that is worse in the process ignoring the one that we have.

Instead of craning your neck over the fence to the other side thinking that the garden is better (without understanding the story behind their garden at all) why not consider the possibility of re-turfing your own garden if you don’t like it.

Why not think about improving your own situation and taking responsibility for what you do instead of craving the situation of somebody else who you probably don’t even know that well; who projects an image to you of success, satisfaction and happiness which is rarely, if ever, correct.

My garden is nice, I like it. I don’t have to look at anyone else’s because I know there are people with bigger, grander and more wonderful gardens than me. I just need to make sure I spend enough time in my own garden.
