The athlete trains on a cycle, sometimes a four-year cycle, if they are targeting Olympic glory.

That means that during the cycle, there will be times that they're up and times that they're down, times that they're fitter and times that they are less fit, all towards dialling in to some event months or years away, where they will be at their absolute best.

They won't be at their best three months before, and they won't be at their best three months after. They will be at their best when they are supposed to be at their best.

The analogy's not lost on me.

It's Easter weekend this weekend. I did everything I could to be finished by Thursday so that I could stop for 4 days and not think about work at all (despite the lifestyle that I have accepted in running a business).

Sometimes it's important to create a vacuum in your head to see what it's filled by, dialling in times like that, absolutely critical. Otherwise, all you ever think about is what's right in front of you, never what's further down the line.

Running a business, running your own business, it's like training for the Olympics; you can't be at your best every single day.
